Back in 2015, I joined my mother and sister on a trip to Peru.
Quick facts: The majority of my family is from Peru. We also have family from Japan, who currently reside in Peru.
This is not my first trip to Peru nor was it my last. However this was the trip that I committed to professionally documenting my roots for the first time. I captured as many moments and experiences as I could.
I visited the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon back in 2015 for the first time. I fell in love with the city and the people. I was in Portland to participate in a RAW Artist show and I came out with much more than just that experience. I realized that art is much more appreciated and welcomed in this city. I felt like this could be a second home for me.
Joshua Tree is my haven away from the congested city of LA. There is something about being surrounded by pure nature that soothes me. It helps me clear my mind. I find myself craving more of this as my life becomes more chaotic. As much as I love the chaos, a break from it all can do me some good.
I was given the opportunity to go to Chicago. I hardly remember my first trip due to the fact that I was so young and unaware of my surroundings. This was my first true trip where I was able to explore the city on my own for the most part. This city was buzzing. Not a dull moment. There was so much history to see. Not to mention, green everywhere. I am accustomed to LA where it’s mostly made of dirt, concrete, buildings, and cars. So you can imagine my appreciation for the greenery. Bonus: The public transportation. Absolutely phenomenal. Busses and trains that continuously runs with little to no delay, who would have known? I will see you again Chicago, very soon.
